India

80G
  • The Breakfast Revolution is a project of Decimal Foundation, the trust that holds its 80G registration (AABTD3471H25MB02). Cheques in India are made out to Decimal Foundation.
  • Add your PAN on TBR's India form. TBR asks for it to send your receipt.
  • By law, the trust reports each gift and the donor's PAN to the Income Tax Department after the financial year ends, and gives the donor a certificate of donation. The deduction is matched against that report, so the PAN must be right.
  • The deduction is only for the old tax regime. If you file under the new regime, which applies unless you choose the old one, you cannot claim it.

United States

501(c)(3)
  • In the US, The Breakfast Revolution is its own 501(c)(3) public charity, EIN 82-3660603.
  • The IRS lists it as eligible to receive tax-deductible gifts. Give in dollars on the USA tab of TBR's donate page.

Giving as a company?

Questions

Straight answers.

Is my gift tax-deductible?

In India, yes if you file under the old tax regime: gifts are receipted under 80G, and TBR's form asks for your PAN to send the receipt. In the US, yes: The Breakfast Revolution is a 501(c)(3). The details are under Tax receipts above.

How much of my gift reaches the children?

All of it, for a personal gift: The Breakfast Revolution says 100% of personal donations is put to feeding the children. For company gifts, TBR puts 95% into running the programme and 5% towards its administration costs.

How do I pay?

On The Breakfast Revolution's own donate page. It has an online form in rupees for India and one in dollars for the US, and it lists addresses for cheques. The India form asks for your name, email, address and PAN, which TBR needs for your receipt. The payment never passes through this site.

I gave but have no receipt yet. Who do I ask?

The Breakfast Revolution. Receipts come from TBR's side, never from this site. Write to TBR through its contact page with the date, the amount and the name you gave. This site cannot see payments or receipts, so it cannot check them for you.

Will this site know whether I gave?

No. The payment happens on TBR's page, so this site cannot see it. If you come back afterwards, we may ask once whether you completed a gift. Answering is optional, and we record only yes or no.

Can I give for an older child?

Yes. Children aged 11 to 16 take a larger serving, so a school year costs ₹3,120 ($36). Type that amount into the calculator above, or straight into TBR's form.
