The problem, and the programme
Millions of children in Indian government schools start the day hungry, and the breakfast many receive fills a stomach without giving the body the protein it needs to grow and to learn. The shortfall is protein, not calories.
The Breakfast Revolution designs breakfasts for complete protein, all nine essential amino acids, aiming for about 10 g per serving on average, built for real government-school kitchens where there is no fridge and no hot water to count on. Its new recipes are being designed with UGIPL's food-science engine, which matches each one against the WHO/FAO/UNU amino acid pattern and ICMR-NIN 2024, and flags any recipe high in sugar, fat or sodium.
For a company, this is a CSR spend with a clean line from rupees to outcomes. Every amount in this proposal is a multiple of one rate: what it costs to feed one child breakfast every school morning for a year.
What a CSR budget becomes
₹2,600
One child
Feeds one child breakfast every school morning for a year.
₹78,000
Classroom
Feeds 30 children breakfast every school morning for a year. A whole classroom, fed together.
₹7,80,000
School
Feeds 300 children breakfast every school morning for a year. About ten classrooms.
₹78,00,000
District
Feeds 3,000 children breakfast every school morning for a year. About 10 schools fed together.
Classroom, School and District are the standard tiers; any amount in between works the same way. Want a different scale or a multi-year pledge? Send us a budget and we will map it to real schools, then report back on the ones it reached. Reach assumes about 30 children to a classroom and about 300 to a school.
Section 135 CSR compliance
What a finance and ESG team asks before moving budget: who receipts the gift, under which law, which documents back it, and where the nutrition figures come from.
India 80G
Receipted under 80G in India
The Breakfast Revolution is a project of Decimal Foundation, the trust that holds its 80G registration (AABTD3471H25MB02). From 1 April 2026 the deduction sits in section 133 of the Income-tax Act, 2025.
US 501(c)(3)
A 501(c)(3) in the United States
The Breakfast Revolution is its own 501(c)(3) public charity, EIN 82-3660603, listed by the IRS as eligible to receive tax-deductible gifts.
Section 135 and Schedule VII
An eligible CSR activity
Schedule VII of the Companies Act 2013 lists eradicating hunger and malnutrition, and promoting education, among the activities a company may fund to meet its Section 135 obligation. Confirm the fit with your CSR committee and auditor.
UN SDG 2
Zero Hunger
This work maps to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2, a recognised anchor for ESG reporting.
FSSAI
FSSAI registered
TBR holds an active FSSAI registration with regular compliance reporting. Recipes designed with UGIPL's engine also flag any that are high in sugar, fat or sodium.
Methodology
Grounded in published science
The engine's nutrition figures come from IFCT 2017, the WHO/FAO/UNU 2007 amino-acid pattern and ICMR-NIN 2024, and are marked as estimates until a lab tests the recipe.
